Frequently asked questions.

  • Sourdough is naturally leavened bread, which means it doesn’t use commercial yeast to rise. Instead, it uses a ‘starter’ – a fermented flour and water mixture that contains wild yeast and good bacteria – to rise. This also produces the tangy flavor and slightly chewy texture you’ll find in sourdough. Wild yeast has more flavor than commercial yeast, and is natural in the sense that it does not contain any additives. While sourdough is not gluten free, its natural fermentation process allows the bread to be easier digested.

  • YES, all of our sourdough products are easily preserved if properly wrapped and frozen. For sourdough loaves or bagels, when removed from the freezer, simply wet the bread and reheat in the oven for 15 minutes around 375 degrees Fahrenheit. For pizza dough, it must be removed and allowed to fully dethaw prior to any shaping or backing of the crust.

  • We welcome anyone to visit and ask questions about our animals. We want them to all go to good homes and make sure that you understand what will be required in raising them. We have experience raising them for pets as well as raising certain breeds as livestock for sustenance for our family. All of our animals are well cared for and provided with any essential vitamins and medication, however, our animals are primarily not vaccinated for a number of personal reasons. While we welcome visits and questions, we will require that anyone interested call and discuss with us prior to any visits to our homestead. Please do not show up without an appointment with us first.

  • Absolutely, none of our animals are eligible for pickup any earlier than 8 weeks of age. We encourage visiting the farm and viewing any animal you are interested in first. Once you fall in love you can place a deposit on any animals you may be interested in to be sure no one else scoops them up. All deposits are fifty percent of the total animal value. Once we receive the deposit for that animal, we will no longer advertise the animal as available. The remaining payment will be due upon delivery or pickup of said animal. If for any reason you can no longer take the animal you are interested in please let us know as soon as possible so we can resume advertising and help find them a good home. Please note that all deposits are non-refundable, so please be sure that you can house and care for an animal prior to placing a deposit. This means you need to talk to your significant other first to make sure everyone is okay with a new furry friend!
